Chartering Manager (Chemical Tanker)

Chartering Manager – Chemical Tankers | Singapore

Faststream is partnering with a ship owner to appoint a Chartering Manager to its chemical tanker desk. You'll handle fixtures end to end, from first enquiry through to handover to operations, working with Mandarin-speaking principals and partners. Fluent Mandarin is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Negotiate voyage and time charter terms with owners, charterers and brokers, securing sound commercial terms on every fixture.
• Build and use your network of owners, tonnage providers and charterers to source cargo and tonnage opportunities.
• Track freight rates, trade flows and market trends to guide fixing and positioning decisions.
• Work with operations to keep loading, discharge and voyage execution on schedule.
• Monitor vessel performance during the voyage and resolve issues as they arise.
• Review vessel allocation and performance regularly to improve deployment and earnings.
• Keep accurate records of charter parties, negotiations and correspondence.
• Update management regularly on fixtures, positions and market conditions.

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business or a related field.
• Chartering experience, with chemical tankers.
• A supply chain or freight logistics background is an advantage.
• Business-fluent English and Mandarin, written and spoken. Mandarin is mandatory, as you'll manage Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
• Strong negotiation skills, with a record of concluding fixtures and managing contracts.
• Comfortable analysing market data to support commercial decisions.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with MARPOL Annex II, the IBC Code and tanker vetting requirements is a plus.
