Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
This policy explains what personal data HGV Driver Jobs collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. Please read it alongside our cookie policy and our terms of use.
Who we are
HGV Driver Jobs (hgvdriver.jobs) is a free job-advertising platform for HGV and LGV drivers in the United Kingdom. We list vacancies posted by employers and advertisers so that drivers can find and apply for work.
We are a listings platform. We are not an employment agency, an employment business, or the employer for any role advertised on the site. Employers and advertisers are responsible for their own listings and for complying with the Conduct of Employment Agencies Regulations 2003.
For the personal data described in this policy, HGV Driver Jobs is the data controller. You can reach us about anything to do with your data at hello@hgvdriver.jobs.
We handle your personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The regulator for data protection in the UK is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
What data we collect and why
We only collect the data we need to run the service. Depending on how you use the site, that includes:
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Jobseeker profile — the details you choose to add, such as your licence classes, endorsements, location and any CV you upload.
- Job applications — when you apply for a role we collect your name, email address, phone number, CV and any cover note you write.
- Employer and company details — for advertisers, the company name, contact details and the content of the vacancies you post.
- Job alert emails — the email address and search preferences you give us so we can send you matching roles.
- Minimal server logs — a small amount of technical data, including your IP address, kept for security and to rate-limit abuse of the site.
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run Google Analytics or third-party trackers by default. Our fonts are self-hosted, so no third-party font network sees your visit. See our cookie policy for the full detail.
Our lawful bases for using your data
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are:
- Contract — to provide the service you have asked for, such as running your account, storing your profile and passing your application to an employer.
- Consent — for marketing emails and job alerts. You give this when you opt in, and you can withdraw it at any time (for example by using the unsubscribe link in any alert email).
- Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain minimal logs. We balance this against your rights and only keep what we need.
Cookies
We use only essential first-party cookies, such as the cookie that keeps you logged in and the one that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not set third-party cookies. Full details are in our cookie policy.
How we share your data
When you apply for a job, we share your application (your name, email, phone number, CV and cover note) with the specific employer or advertiser whose role you applied to, so they can consider you and get in touch. That is the point of applying.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may share data with trusted service providers who help us run the site (for example email delivery or hosting), and only so far as they need it to do that work. We may also disclose data where we are required to by law.
How long we keep your data
- Accounts — kept while your account is active. If you stop using it, you can ask us to delete it.
- Job applications — kept for a reasonable period so employers can process them, then deleted.
- Server logs — kept only as long as needed for security and abuse prevention.
You can ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected (rectification);
- have your data deleted (erasure);
- restrict how we use your data;
- receive your data in a portable format (portability);
- object to certain uses of your data;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, at any time.
To exercise any of these, use our data request form or email hello@hgvdriver.jobs. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
International transfers
Your data is stored and processed within the UK or the European Economic Area. If we ever need to transfer data outside these areas, we will make sure it has an equivalent level of protection, using the safeguards allowed under UK data protection law.
How we keep your data secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. These include hashing passwords, serving the site over HTTPS, protecting forms against cross-site request forgery, rate-limiting to block abuse, and limiting who can access personal data. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to keep the risk low.
Children
HGV Driver Jobs is intended for people aged 18 and over. Driving an HGV is an adult profession and the service is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their data, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of the page. If the change is significant we will make it clear on the site.
How to complain
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first at hello@hgvdriver.jobs so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
